THE FISHER VALLEY COLLEGE (TFVC) is the only private educational institution in Taguig City with curricular offerings ranging from pre-school, elementary, secondary to vocational-technical and college levels. It is located in Barangay Hagonoy, Taguig City. The school is a co-educational, Christ-centered institution committed to develop skills, knowledge, and attitude for the individual to become self-reliant, responsible and be a useful citizen of the nation. The college founders believe that ‘Faith in God’ gives meaning and purpose to human life, and man as a free moral agent that will certainly devote efforts toward nation building. The school assumes the responsibility of putting in the youth of today the true value of a Filipino and its culture as basic elements in the attainment of national development and unity.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

During their first board meeting on October 7, 1986 at the residence of Atty. and Mrs. Ronald Yap at #43 Constellation St., Bel-Air Village II, Makati City, the founders agreed to contribute their efforts toward developing children through quality education. The proposal to establish a school was approved by the incorporators.

On November 25, 1986, the Securities and Exchange Commission under SEC Reg. No. 136699 approved the Articles of Incorporation of the school for elementary up to college levels. Rebecca Yap, who by profession is an educator and is well involved in the field of education, then became the institution’s forerunner.

The Fisher Valley School was the name given to the institution following Lord Jesus Christ’s calling on his flock to be "Fishers of Men." Another reason for its name is that it is strategically located in the fishing village of Taguig.

The first three years of the school was a great challenge to the people behind this institution of learning. With a handful of teachers, moderators and parents working hand in hand in the spirit of togetherness, obstacles were brought to a well-taken solution.

Having complied with the law and all requirements, the school was granted by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) its permit to operate. However, greater and better things happened to the Fisher Valley School. The Kindergarten and Elementary Departments were given full government recognition (No. P-0015 and No. E-0010 series of 1991) by DECS.

Year after year, the school strives to improve the standard of education. Moderators and faculty members are screened and trained to live up to its slogan "Low Tuition Fee/Quality Education." The fees truthfully are minimal and affordable and cater to the needs of the average, high, and low-income level groups in the community. The school directress Rebecca Yap has kept her promise to the people of Taguig and suburbs that this school is here to stay to take active part in the moulding of the youth in this part of Metro Manila through Christian education.

On May 30, 1993, the Board of Trustees applied for a change of institutional name from Fisher Valley School to Fisher Valley Academy. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved the said application on July 7, 1993. Consequently, the High School Department also received Government recognition on March 1, 1995.

The Fisher Valley Academy has truly been blessed by God. A College Department with many academic offerings to choose from was opened in June 1996. The name Fisher Valley Academy was changed to The Fisher Valley College and was approved by the SEC on January 16, 1996.

n 1997, God blessed the school with a branch "The Fisher Valley Academy" in Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City. This was followed by the opening of the C5 Annex in 2004 in response to the increasing need for quality yet affordable education of the residents within the vicinity. The annex campus is located along C5 Road, Pinagsama Village, Western Bicutan, Taguig City.

PRESENT TIMES

The founders never imagined that the small school they opened in 1986 in a rented space with less than 50 students would grow into a complete educational institution with more than 1,500 students. Now in its 19th year, The Fisher Valley College envisions itself to be the premier educational institution in Taguig gaining international recognition as it continues to be an advocate of faith, leadership, and excellence.

The Fisher Valley College is committed to the training and education of the whole person as a magnificently unique gift to the world to be spiritually alive, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, acting in a Christ-like manner and highly motivated to attain outstanding "academic quality" making difference in the life of other.

Guided by this mission-vision, TFVC aims to achieve a University status in the future. This will be initiated by the upcoming application for accreditation by the College to the Association of Christian Schools and Colleges Accrediting Agency, Inc. (ACSC-AAI).

TFVC’s main task in its continuing concern as an intellectual community is the elevation of academic standards within the limits of its resources. To achieve this goal of academic excellence, the institution strives to provide continuity of classroom instructions, strict but fair grading system, continuing research and publication, adequate facilities, and qualified faculty and administrative personnel.

To be well rounded, TFVC provides its students with a balance between academic and co-curricular activities. Among the regular programs implemented annually are the acquaintance party, educational field trips, spiritual retreat, sportsfest, freshmen ball, playground demonstration, talent search, community outreach, quiz bee, play, and variety shows. To accomplish this array of activities the school recognized various clubs and organizations such as the College Students Executive Committee, Journalism Club, Masque Club, Campus Ministry, Dance Troupe, and other Departmental Organizations.

CURRICULAR OFFERINGS

The Fisher Valley College offers a complete basic education curriculum from pre-school (nursery, kindergarten and preparatory levels), elementary (grades 1 to 6), and secondary (1st year to 4th year) levels.

The College of Business and Accountancy offers Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management. TFVC anticipates a very competitive future in the business field as it endeavors to produce professionals who are success-oriented while maintaining a people-oriented disposition. The focus of the BSA program is to prepare graduates to actively play an important role as Certified Public Accountants either in the government or private sector.

The College of Computer Studies offers Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and Associate in Computer Technology. The information technology education of the college facilitates the preparation of students to adequately, meet the growing demands for computer professionals and practitioners. The courses will provide students with sufficient exposure to relate the academic instruction to actual practices in the world of computers. Students are given intensive training in computer programming, software development, systems analysis and design, networking and web page development.

Whereas the College of Education offers Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, Mathematics and Computer Education, and Certificate in Teaching Course. The main concern of the College of Education is the preparation of teachers imbued with the ideals, aspirations, and traditions of Philippine life and culture and sufficiently equipped with knowledge of an effective delivery system.

The Technical-Vocational Department offers two-year courses in Computer Technician, Computer Secretarial, Computer Programming, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Nursing Assistant Course.
