It kicked-off with a Thanksgiving Service headed by the TFVC music ministry with message delivered by Pastor Jun Reyes. This is followed by the Motorcade of colorful floats that traversed the major roads of Taguig City. In the afternoon of the first day, the elementary and high school students opened their sportsfest competition between four competing teams namely Samaritan, Disciples, Mizpah and Athens. Even with unfavorable weather condition, the players still gave their best and fought to the finish. Amidst occasional rain showers, most students focused their attention on the food fair and booths from the HRM, computer and nursing assistant departments.
The sun shone brighter on the second day as the sports competition from the elementary and high school continued. Simultaneously a sports event was held at the Phase 2 Gymnasium for the C5 Annex college students. The coronation night of the Search for the Shining Child and Teen Star in the afternoon attracted a huge crowd as the celebrity guest Ms. LJ Reyes rendered a song number and led the coronation of the winners. The crowned shining child stars were Khisteine Arielle B. Jazul and Joshua M. Espinosa (Primary Level), Van Gabriela Decena and Jurgen T. Remigio (Intermediate Level) while Joanna G. Fernandez and Isabelo Diangson (Secondary Level) were declared as the Shining Teen Stars.
Students wearing blue and yellow shirts gathered on the third day during the opening of college sportsfest between the Yellowfins (freshmen) and Blue Marlins (higher years). Cheering competition, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, dart and chess were among the events they competed in. Notwithstanding the tiring sports competition, the students gave their full support to the much-awaited musical play entitled ‘The Cats’ by the humanities students under the supervision of their professor Mrs. Girlie Mendoza. Prior to the main play, a number of faculty members teamed with the students as they rendered dance and song numbers. As expected, they were greatly applauded.
Friendship games between the winners of the C5 Annex and Main Campus were the highlight of the fourth day. Several fun games were also played but among the games, the match between the female basketball winners from the Main campus and C5 Annex proved to be the most entertaining. Awarding ceremonies followed with the Blue Marlins both from the Main and C5 Annex were declared as overall champions.
The Search for the Mr. & Ms. Campus Figure was an inter-department beauty pageant held in the evening of the fifth day. The contestants posed in their best casual, sports and evening wear. Question and answer portion was the most thrilling part for the audience. In the end the declared campus figures were Shyne Develos (Computer Dep’t) and Randolf Argarin (Business Dep’t) from the main campus and Chayrose Montero and Vincent Gibb Gavina (both from the Computer Dep’t) from the C5 Annex.
Finally, the celebration concluded with a playground demonstration in the morning. It was such an awesome display of dance presentations from various levels in their colorful costumes. The Fisher Valley College president Atty. Ronald R. Yap performed in an Arnis exhibition together with some Arnis Martial Arts experts. The teachers also gave their rendition of the Papaya dance. The last event in the evening was a triple treat with Battle of the Bands, Concert by the Camerawalls, and a dance party. Ten bands comprising of high school and college students vie for the best band award where they presented a cover song and a Beatles song. ‘The Bottles’ band comprising of college students from C5 Annex stood out and was declared as champion, while ‘The Prawn Crackers’ and ‘Blue Print’ came out second and third respectively.
Indeed, with the full cooperation of various committee members and active participation of the students, the 21st Foundation Week Celebration of the Fisher Valley Co was generally successful. The administration stressed that a more vibrant and more interesting foundation celebration is coming up as TFVC nears its silver anniversary. (January 28, 2008)
